This is another category in which the aspiring German learner can breathe a sigh of relief. Most of the males in your family will take the masculine article "der", while most of the females will take the feminine article "die". There are, however, a couple of exceptions that you should be aware of, such as "das Mädchen" (the girl). This word is usually used to describe younger girls, while "die Frau" is used to describe adult women.
